Financial Aid and Scholarship Services will request this documentation only if it is needed to complete your financial aid file. If this item is listed under your Financing Tasks in My ASU, your financial aid disbursement will be placed on hold.

Purpose: The Department of Homeland Security was unable to confirm your eligible noncitizen status. Therefore, you must complete the process below.
Lawful permanent resident
- I-551 Permanent Resident Card or Resident Alien Card. (front and back of card)
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record stamped with “Processed for I-551. Temporary evidence of lawful admission of permanent residence. Valid until…”
- Machine Readable Immigrant VISA (MRIV) stamped with “Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for one year.”
Conditional resident alien
- I-551C Permanent Resident Card with a “CR” category. (front and back of card)
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record stamped with “Processed for I-551. Temporary evidence of lawful admission of permanent residence. Valid until…”
- Machine Readable Immigrant VISA (MRIV) stamped with “Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for one year.”
Asylum granted
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with codes AS1, AS2 or AS3.
- I-94A Departure Record stamped with “Admission under Section 208 of the INA.”
Refugee
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with class of admission as “RE”.
- I-94 or I-94A Departure Record stamped with “Admission under Section 207 of the INA.”
- I-94 with a stamp displaying Section 203(a) (7).
- Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571).
- U.S. travel document stamped “Refugee Travel Document Form I-571 (Rev. 9-2-03).”
Parolee (for at least one year)
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with a parolee stamp and documentation that provides evidence that you are in the U.S. for other than a temporary purpose, which may include an I-797 Notice of Action (i.e., a document the parolee receives after filing an I-484 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status).
Jay Treaty (i.e., American Indian born in Canada)
- Documentation showing “Admission under Section 289 of the INA”
- A Canadian birth certificate and proof of 50 percent Native American blood.
Battered immigrant — qualified alien (i.e., Violence Against Women Act)
- I-797 or I-360 Approval Notice stating it is an "approval notice for a self-petitioning case."
- A letter from USCIS that says “determined as prima facie."
- Court order from an immigration judge must not be expired and clearly indicates "suspension of deportation under VAWA."
- Court order from an immigration judge must not be expired and clearly indicates "cancellation of removal under VAWA."
Victim of human trafficking
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with codes T1, T2, T3 or TCOA with an Eligibility Letter from Department of Health and Human Services.
- T VISA with an Eligibility Letter from Department of Health and Human Services.
Cuban-Haitian entrant
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with a "Cuban-Haitian Entrant" stamp.
Conditional entrant (valid only if issued before April 1, 1980)
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record stamped with Section 203(a)(7).
Citizen of the Freely Associated States (Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Republic of Palau)
- Passport from the Freely Associated States.
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record stamped with codes CFA/FSM, CFA/MIS or CFA/PAL.
- Social Security card
- Employment Authorization Card or Document (Form I-688A, I-688B or I-766).
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (i.e., DACA).
- Notice of Approval to Apply for Permanent Residency (Form I-171 or I-464).
- Form I-181, I-181A and I-181B.
- Application or Approval for Family Unity Benefits (Form I-817).
- Temporary Residents (Form I-688).
- Illegal aliens under the legalization program (also called the Amnesty Program).
- Temporary Protected Status (I-94 Forms stamped with TPS).
- Withholding of Removal order issued by an immigration judge or by the Board of Immigration Appeals.
- Nonimmigrant visa including, but not limited to:
- A-2 or A-3 VISA.
- B-1 or B-2 VISA.
- F-1, F-2 or M-1 VISA.
- G series VISA.
- H or L series VISA.
- J-1 or J-2 VISA.
- NATO VISA.
- R VISA.
- U VISA.
