2023-2024 Grant overpayment resolution verification

If this item is listed under your Financing Tasks in My ASU, your financial aid disbursement will be placed on hold until you provide the information requested.

Why this is needed

Your FAFSA indicates that you may have received more Federal Grant funding than you are eligible to receive. If this is true, you are required by law to resolve your overpayment you were not entitled to. Until you resolve the overpayment, you are not eligible for any other federal student aid. To resolve this situation, submit documentation to ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services that verifies you have repaid the overpayment or are in a satisfactory repayment agreement.

Instructions

  1. Go to your StudentAid.Gov account to view your grant overpayment
    • Go to studentaid.gov and log in to your Student Aid account
    • From your Student Aid dashboard select View Details to view your pell grant payment amounts
  2. Contact the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-621-3115 for options to resolve your overpayment. For information on what is owed, call 1-800-621-3115, log in to My Federal Student Aid with your FSA ID or write to the U.S. Department of Education Default Resolution Group, PO Box 5609, Greenville, Texas 75403-5609.
  3. Upload documentation (i.e., clearance letter, Title IV Eligibility Letter, satisfactory repayment agreement) that your overpayment has been resolved into the eForm below.
    • If you have lost or did not receive documentation, contact the Department of Education. This letter will be mailed directly to you. ASU cannot request this letter on your behalf.
  4. Submit the eForm.

You can view your document status on My ASU's Finances tab. Please allow two to three business days after you submit it for our receipt to show in your Financing Tasks.
