2021–2022 Pell Grant Overpayment Resolution Verification

Financial Aid and Scholarship Services will request this documentation only if it is needed to complete your financial aid file. If this item is listed under your Financing Tasks in My ASU, your financial aid disbursement will be placed on hold.

You can view your document status on My ASU’s Finances tab. Please allow 2 to 3 business days for receipt to show in your Financing Tasks.

Purpose

Your FAFSA indicates that you may have received more Federal Pell Grant funding than you are eligible to receive. You are required by law to resolve your overpayment you were not entitled to. Until you resolve the overpayment, you are not eligible for any other federal student aid. To resolve this situation, submit documentation to ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services that verifies you have repaid the overpayment or are in a satisfactory repayment agreement.

Instructions

  1. Contact the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-621-3115 for options to resolve your overpayment. For information on what is owed, call 1-800-621-3115, log in to My Federal Student Aid link with your FSA ID or write to the U.S. Department of Education Default Resolution Group, P.O. Box 5609, Greenville, Texas 75403-5609.
  2. Upload documentation that your overpayment has been resolved into the eForm below (i.e., clearance letter, Title IV Eligibility Letter, satisfactory repayment agreement).
    • If you have lost or did not receive documentation, contact the Department of Education. This letter will be mailed directly to you. ASU cannot request this letter on your behalf.
  3. Submit the eForm.
