2025-2026 Parent Federal Benefits Confirmation

If this item is listed under your Financing Tasks in My ASU, your financial aid disbursement will be placed on hold until you provide the information requested.

Why this is needed

There are two scenarios that can cause this information to be required.

  1. When your parent initially completed your FAFSA application, they either skipped the Federal Benefits Received section or it was not presented to them during the online application process.
  2. Your parent recently changed their response about federal benefits received on your FAFSA.

ASU must confirm if your parent or anyone in your parent’s household received any federal means-tested benefits in order to complete your financial aid file. For more information, visit https://studentaid.gov/help/means-tested-benefits.

This eForm must be completed by the parent listed on the FAFSA. To allow your parent to complete and sign forms electronically, you need to grant your parent guest access on My ASU. To do this, visit My ASU - Add a Guest. Under Finances, check the box next to View my tasks. Once you provide guest access, your parent will need to complete the Parent Signature Verification task in order to begin to sign and complete forms electronically.

Additional informaiton

If your parent or anyone in your parent’s household received federal means-tested benefits at any time during the 2022 or 2023 calendar year, your parent must indicate on the eForm which benefits were received. If neither your parent nor any family members received any federal benefits, just select the None of these apply checkbox.

For free lunch, the guidelines for the Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program are published annually by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).This means your parent, your parent’s spouse (if married), your parent’s partner (if unmarried and both legal parents living together) must qualify for the federal program benefits and not just be receiving benefits because the school, school system, and other programs, such as the Community Eligibility Program (CEP), offered free lunches to its students due to the COVID-19 national emergency or for other reasons.

Family assistance programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) might have different names in your state.

Your parent confirmation does not affect your student’s eligibility for federal student aid nor their federal benefits.

You can view your document status on the Finances page of My ASU. Please allow two to three business days for our receipt of your form to show in your Financing Tasks.
