2024-2025 Grant overpayment resolution verification

If this item is listed under your Financing Tasks in My ASU, your financial aid disbursement will be placed on hold until you provide the information requested.

Why this is needed

Your FAFSA indicates that you may have received more Federal Grant funding than you are eligible to receive. One of the consequences of receiving additional grants that you are not eligible for is loss of additional Federal Student Aid (FSA) eligibility. To regain your eligibility, you must resolve the overpayment by submitting one of the documents below:

  • Documentation of overpayment paid in full
  • Documentation of satisfactory repayment agreement

Instructions

  1. Go to the Federal Student Aid dashboard at https://studentaid.gov/dashboard/ to view your grant overpayment.
  2. Contact the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-621-3115 for options to resolve your overpayment. For information on what is owed, call 1-800-621-3115, log in to My Federal Student Aid with your FSA ID or write to the U.S. Department of Education Default Resolution Group, PO Box 5609, Greenville, Texas 75403-5609.
    • Monthly payment receipts are not acceptable.
  3. Upload documentation (i.e., clearance letter, Title IV Eligibility Letter, satisfactory repayment agreement) that your overpayment has been resolved into the eForm below.
    • If you have lost or did not receive documentation, contact the Department of Education. This letter will be mailed directly to you. ASU cannot request this letter on your behalf.
  4. Submit the eForm.

You can view your document status on My ASU's Finances tab. Please allow two to three business days after you submit it for our receipt to show in your Financing Tasks.

Complete and submit online.
