Scholarship maintenance plan
The Scholarship Maintenance Plan is designed to help you if you are at risk of losing your ASU merit scholarship by allowing you to retain a portion of the scholarship award value.
Fully Renewing your Scholarship
In order to renew 100% of your scholarship, you must successfully complete the following by the end of each academic year (fall, spring and immediately trailing summer):
- Earn 30 ASU credits in one academic year
- Earn an ASU 3.00 cumulative gpa

Partially Renewing your Scholarship
The Scholarship Maintenance Plan is used when the above requirements are not fully met. The following provides the percentage of the award you will receive based on your ASU cumulative GPA and earned ASU credit hours:

FAQs
Yes. Students who do not meet renewal criteria by the end of the spring semester may complete ASU summer courses to increase ASU credit hours and/or ASU cumulative GPA. Only ASU summer courses are accepted to meet your prior year deficiency.
No. Your scholarship has been reduced for one academic year (fall and spring). At the end of that year, your performance will be re-evaluated. If you meet the minimum scholarship criteria by the end of the spring semester, your scholarship will automatically be restored to its original annual amount the following year. This decision cannot be appealed.
In order to recover 100% of your scholarship, you must successfully complete the following by the end of each academic year (fall, spring and immediately trailing summer).
- earn an ASU 3.00 cumulative GPA
- complete successfully 30 ASU credits in one academic year
You must also complete all other criteria specified by your scholarship. See the scholarship guide for a list of qualifying credit and additional criteria.
If you maintain a 2.50 to 2.99 and complete a minimum of 24 credits or higher each academic year, you will remain in the Scholarship Maintenance Plan. Your scholarship will be awarded at a reduced rate.
No. Your participation is automatic. Your scholarship will be posted to your account and you can view it on My ASU.
If you remained continuously enrolled at ASU and meet the renewal requirements, you may be eligible to recover a portion or full amount of your scholarship. Please note that any semesters you were not on scholarship still count toward your maximum semesters of eligibility.
Only very limited extenuating circumstances beyond your control, such as a serious medical emergency, are considered for appeals. The completed appeal must be submitted by August 1. Appeal decisions are final. To find out more about the appeals process, please visit the scholarship appeals page.
